HIC in the Community
HIC takes its place at the 2007 Local Hero Awards
Harrogate International Centre has just participated for the
first time in the 2007 Local Hero Awards organised by 97.2 Stray
FM. The awards involved local people voting for the 'heroes' of
North Yorkshire and aims to give recognition to people who have
gone the extra mile. HIC sponsored the "Make a Community Difference
Award" which was won by Daphne Fisher who has spent the last 40
years fundraising particularly for the blind.

Fostering more links with the local
community
Key to Harrogate International Centre's success has been its
central location in Harrogate surrounded by all the visitor
services delegates need whilst attending a conference or
exhibition.
Every year thousands of visitors are brought into the town
boosting Harrogate's local economy and Harrogate International
Centre works hard to continually build relationships with local
people and businesses.
We see the Harrogate & District as integral to our success
in delivering an excellent service to all visitors.
We also understand that to achieve this we need to embrace the
local community. Working closely with the following organisations
we need to let them understand what our goals are and how we
propose to achieve them:
- Local Schools and colleges
- Hotels
- Local Sports clubs
- Chamber of trade
- Transport providers
We are more than happy to arrange tours, provide information
to local groups, schools and colleges, provide work placements to
local schools, and support an apprentice scheme.
