A robot visits HIC
Release date: 17th June 2008
Filmmaker and graphic designer Ross Anderson, and his business
partner Rosie Davey, who specialises in animation and special
effects, approached HIC with an unusual request earlier this month
when they asked if they could bring their robot named Gimi - on a
visit to HIC's auditorium and the Royal Hall.
Ross and Rosie have been commissioned by the North Yorkshire
County Council youth initiative project, also called Gimi, to
produce a video advert to promote the Gimi website through the
internet and Bluetooth phones. The website publicises positive
activities for young people across the county as well as providing
advice and information on topics such as health, bullying, jobs and
careers.
It also offers social networking in a safe online environment.
Games and fun applications are also available. It is hoped that
arts and culture venues and all organisations working with young
people will embrace gimi.co.uk.
Ross explained why he wanted to include HIC venues in his
promotional film, "HIC is a hub of activity for music and
performance that young people will really identify with. The
architectural features vary significantly between the Royal Hall
and the auditorium, which I felt would add visual interest to the
film. It wasn't just a historical view of North Yorkshire we were
looking for, the modern aesthetics of HIC combined with the
historical Royal Hall encapsulates the way we wanted to portray the
county.
We hope that Gimi will bring a whole other world of culture
and activities to people that didn't realise it was on their
doorstep all along."
