Come see the magnificent £10.7m restoration work of this 1903
Matchman designed venue. It took 37,000 man-hours to complete the
project and 112,500 sheets of 23.5-carat gold leaf were used. The
blue paint sourced for the ceiling mural was mined in Afghanistan
and cost £3,000 for the ounce needed for the work. The
building truly deserves to be known as Harrogate's 'glittering
palace of gold'.
