Release Date: 5th February

Marti Pellow at Harrogate International Centre Saturday 19 April 2008
In April 2008, acclaimed singer-songwriter Marti Pellow begins an intimate UK tour of his new album, "In a Sentimental Mood". Described by Marti himself as an album for lovers, this jazz-infused record marks a new musical direction for an extremely versatile star.

The tour kicks off in Birmingham Town Hall on the 10th and 11th April, and visits fourteen cities around the UK, culminating in a show in St David's Hall in Cardiff on 30th April. Marti has just played to over 100,000 people on the latest Wet Wet Wet tour. This is a spectacular one off chance for fans to see him in more exclusive venues.

After realising a long-held dream of performing a series of sell-out shows at Ronnie Scotts in London, Marti began work on this new jazz album. Working with Jim Watson, a multi award-winning jazz pianist, Marti has taken some classic songs and treated them in a way that is entirely unique, but will still be accessible to Marti's audience. A collection of world-class musicians have leant their considerable expertise, and the result is a powerful, timeless collection for music lovers of all ages.

Leslie Bricusse, when hearing Marti's version of his song Who Can I Turn To said, "This is the best interpretation I have ever heard. I have never been touched so deeply by an interpretation of one of my songs. Sheer musical brilliance. A masterclass". On hearing the album, Michael Parkinson described it as "a wonderful piece of work".

The impressive set will include Miss Jones, Summerwind, A Child is Born and Under My Skin.  Marti invites audiences to come and hear these songs, and many others, sung like you have never heard them before.

Marti is the lead singer and front man of the hugely successful group "Wet Wet Wet".
He has had over 3 decades of chart topping records. His solo career began with sell-out tours in 2000 and 2001, and his first solo album went straight into the Top 10.  His most recent solo album "Moonlight Over Memphis" was released in the autumn of 2006 to great critical acclaim, and he followed the release with a seventeen-date UK sell-out tour "In Concert Alone".

Tickets cost £31.00 and £26.00 and are available from Harrogate International Centre Box Office, tel 0845 130 8840 or online at www.harrogateboxoffice.co.uk
