Awards
20 September 2006
HIC's innovative Queen's Suite has been named as Yorkshire's
best Business Tourism Venue at the prestigious White Rose Awards
2006 organised by the Yorkshire Tourist Board. Other
finalists in this tough category included Ripley Castle and the
Royal Armouries in Leeds.
Collecting the award at the ceremony held at Magna in
Rotherham, Director of Harrogate International Centre Stuart Quin
said, "This is a fantastic achievement for all the team at HIC and
I'm truly delighted the Queen's Suite has been recognised in this
way. HIC is proud of the great relationship we have with our
clients and our commitment to listen to their changing needs was
one of the principle reasons the Queen's Suite was built."
The Queen's Suite, part of the extensive range of facilities
in Yorkshire's premier conference and exhibition destination,
offers modern and flexible space allowing organisers the option of
choosing from different room layouts and is capable of seating 600
theatre style and can be divided in to any combination of up to ten
rooms.
"Since opening in 2005 the Queen's Suite has proved a runaway
success helping to strengthen HIC's reputation as one of
Yorkshire's and the UK's leading venues as well as sustaining
significant economic benefits to the area" said Cllr. Dr Mike
Gardner, Leader of Harrogate Borough Council and Chairman of the
HIC Board.
Through winning the award, the Queen's Suite at HIC
automatically goes forward to compete in the national Enjoy England
Excellence awards to be held early 2007.
